Data Sheet
The Starhub’s primary purpose is to distribute CAN bus messages along the CAN bus backbone and through to the individual modules, without interfering with the capability of the modules to communicate directly with each other. In addition, the Starhub is responsible for sending power to the system modules, and for switching to secondary power in the event of a primary power supply failure.
The Starhub constantly monitors its own operating state to proactively alert the system of any potential problems and features LEDs to indicate module connection status.
Each SH1-10 can be daisy-chained on the CAN bus to allow for dozens of hubs and thousands of modules – enough for even the largest projects. The SH1-10 can handle 10 separate system modules.
Distributes CAN bus messages among system modules.
The Starhub provides the central switch point for system modules to communicate with each other. If system modules are connected to multiple Starhubs, they pass messages among each other keeping all modules connected at all times.
Distributes power to the system modules.
The Starhub injects power onto the CAT5e cable connecting each module, eliminating the need for system modules to be connected to an individual power supply.
Automatically switches to secondary power in the event of a primary power supply failure.
In the event the primary power supply should fail, the Starhub will instantly begin supplying modules with power from an optional secondary power supply, also notifying the bridge of the failure condition.
Indicates module connection status.
LED's beside each module connection point aid the installer and troubleshooter by indicating when a module is connected to the CAT5e cable.
Constantly monitors its own operating state to proactively alert the system of any potential problems.
The Starhub Module monitors itself and should something be amiss, an alert is sent to the Bridge Module to be relayed to Colorado vNet. If it is something that requires attention, a service call is generated to the system integrator to ensure that the anomaly is dealt with as soon as possible.
