Think of the Input Module as the eyes, ears and nose of your home automation system. Its sole purpose in life is to notice everything that you shouldn’t have to.

For example, if a door beneath one of your drapes is open, the Input Module will know so. And when another part of the system tells the drapes to close, the Input Module will prevent the lowering of number seven window shade until that ‘bad boy’s good and tight!’

Not only does it detect the current state of an open/closed contact, but the event of opening or closing a contact too. It’s nice to know that your inside and outside doors are being monitored even when you’re not around to notice who’s using them. PIR sensors, door magnets, smoke and glass break sensors are all easily connected and powered by the Input Module.

Best of all, the Input Module even monitors itself: if it detects a problem it alerts the Bridge Module of an error, triggering a service call and ensuring that the first you know of the problem is probably when we call you to tell you that we already fixed it!

	Versatile design provides for 1 to 8 multi-purpose Class 2 input channels Up to 8 independent contact closures can be sensed by the Input Module. Since they are contact closures, any Class 2 voltage can exist on the signal lines if required.

	Constantly monitors its own operating state to proactively alert the system of any potential problems The board monitors itself and should something be amiss, an alert is sent to the Bridge Module to be relayed to Colorado vNet. If it is something that requires attention, a service call is generated to the system integrator to ensure that the anomaly is dealt with as soon as possible.

	Each input channel is electrically isolated by a transformer to protect the module from over stress conditions To make sure that the channels remain independent, transformers are used to electrically isolate the input signals from the rest of the Input Module. This means that should non-Class 2 signals suddenly appear on the input lines of one channel, the rest of the Input Module will continue to function as specified.

	Each channel is programmable to match the input’s normally open or closed condition Contact closures come in two types, normally open or normally closed. The Input Module can be programmed to generate events based on either type of normal and exception conditions.

	Each input channel can supply +12 VDC to power attached devices (i.e. PIR, Smoke and Glass-Break detectors) Some peripheral devices need power to determine when to generate the contact closure. The Input Module can supply up to 50mA of 12VDC to the peripheral device on each channel. This simplifies the wiring required for the peripheral devices.

	Each channel has a LED to display the contact closure status Since the peripheral devices can be some distance away, an LED is provided on each channel to indicate the status of the input signals. The LED is programmable, so that an Active state can be indicated regardless of the type of contact closure being used.
